As one of the country’s largest privately funded organization caring for at-risk youth, Boys Town is a leader in the care and treatment of boys and girls who desperately need love, compassion, and guidance.
The Village of Boys Town provides care and treatment to more than 500 girls and boys, typically ages 10-17. Located near Omaha, Nebraska, the residential campus comprises 71 Treatment Family Homes.
The Village also serves as Boys Town’s national headquarters—the organization’s flagship. The Boys Town National Research Hospital’s West Omaha facility is also located at the Village.
Characteristics of Youth Served
Youth admitted to Boys Town have experienced severe individual and/or family difficulties. Specific characteristics of youth served include:
- History of criminal activity
- Resistant to treatment
- Drug and alcohol use
- Family problems
- Runaway behaviors
- Poor coping and problem-solving skills
- History of aggression
- Anger/impulse control
- Lack of self-discipline
- History of truancy and school problems
