Ethan
Family Background
Ethan was placed in foster care after his mother abandoned him when he was a toddler. It would be the first of nine different out-of-home placements. When he was 7, his father died. Ethan’s adoptive parents were abusive and used to beat him with an extension cord.
Behavior Issues
Ethan was diagnosed with Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) and ADHD. He suffered from depression and engaged in self-harm behaviors. He even climbed to the top of a building and threatened to jump. Ethan frequently ran away from home and was suspended from school multiple times because of fights with other students. He also faced numerous criminal charges, including assault and battery, possession of a concealed weapon and drug possession.
Progress at Boys Town
Ethan has been successful in every level of Boys Town’s Continuum of CareSM. He was originally placed in the most-restrictive program, the Intensive Residential Treatment CenterSM. After four months of steady progress there, he was able to step down into the Specialized Treatment Group HomeSM program and is now thriving in the less-restrictive Treatment Family HomeSM program. Ethan continues to take advantage of his opportunities at Boys Town. He’s made the honor roll, is a member of the Chess Club, participates in school plays and is on track to graduate.
